Public Policy Update
A collaborative effort throughout the session by the Colorado Pest Control Association (CPCA), Colorado State Policy Affairs Representatives (SPARs), and other advocates resulted in the defeat of HB 1178, a bill that sought to roll back pesticide preemption in the state. Our advocates sprang into action leading multiple VoterVoice campaigns, complemented by a weekly calling initiative, which targeted key House members. Our industry’s opposition to the bill ensured the bill was held for two months before it was ultimately brought to the House floor in early May to be laid over, which is a procedural move that kills the bill without a vote.
With Colorado officially adjourned for 2024, we congratulate our members for their sustained efforts in educating legislators about the comprehensive regulatory process for our pesticide products and for their continued advocacy for state pesticide preemption integrity.
